A few weeks ago, my niece, Michaela Underwood, sent me a short mp4 file that she’d made of herself playing a melody on the piano — just a disembodied hand floating over the keyboard — and wanted to know if I could do anything with it.

She later explained that it’s the theme that runs through her head for a character in a story she’s writing, hence the name.

The tune wouldn’t stop running through my head, either, so I had to exorcise it by working the whole thing out. I think it turned out rather well. It’s up on the music page for this site.
